RECENT: THE SEAGULL
By Anton Chekhov
Directed by Zoe Senese-Grossberg
It’s hot, it’s sticky, the days are long, you're in the middle of nowhere, and are smarter and more talented than all the people you're stuck here with.
Set in the Hamptons in the late 1960s, this new adaptation of Chekhov’s renowned tragicomedy interrogates the play's conception of power and gender by the actors playing Konstantin and Nina switching roles halfway through. Performed outdoors in a brownstone backyard, this show asks: who is allowed to make art, and is it ever any good?
The Seagull performed August 10-13, 2023 in a private backyard in Park Slope, NYC.
RECENT: ROSSUM’S UNIVERSAL ROBOTS
the origin of robots!
100 years after its English publication, Karel Čapek’s sci-fi epic is reborn in this sleek, modern, dire retelling. R.U.R., the play that coined the word “robot,” tells the twisted, tragic tale of humanity’s last day on Earth. This futuristic thriller, exploring the ethics and decision-making behind robotics and artificial intelligence, screams out with relevance in the wake of today’s AI tech revolution, asking why we insist upon creating technology in our own image.
Audiences are saying:
“Thought-provoking, laugh-out-loud funny,
and perfectly cast.”“A nuanced critique of techno-futurism.”
“Phenomenal multidimensional performances”
“People who see theatre as a way of exploring big ideas.”
